About me
I'm a school teacher and father of four who happens to find enough time to draw.
How? Because I LOVE it!
To see a few strokes of a pencil creating a basic outline turn into a realistic and familiar face of a loved person or pet is highly satisfying for me. The joy of people saying "Wow! That's not just any dog/daughter/grandma, that's MY dog/daughter/grandma!" is second to none.
I've always enjoyed picking up a pencil, but when I was eight...tragedy! I came runner's up in a drawing competition, and I was crushed! For years after that I told myself I was a 'bad drawer'.
Things turned around in my early twenties when I came across a few books which pointed me in the right direction. They helped me to see that drawing is seeing, and that if I don't see something, I don't draw it - and if I do see something, then I do draw it. Sounds simple, but it completely revolutionised my thinking.
Since then I've drawn many portraits for friends and family of their loved ones or pets.
It takes a lot of patience and effort, but the final product is ALWAYS rewarding.
Cheers!
Adam
